Stefan Alexander Bo Olsdal was born at the 31th of March 1974 in Göteborg (Sweden).

He went to the same private School as Brian Molko (the American International School of Luxembourg) but they didn't get friends there. Stef started making Musik in 1987 when he learned to play the drums for the school orchestra. But he wasn't very happy always sitting in the background, so he started to learn playing Bass and Piano. His first Bass was a Fender Precision and he bought it because of Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) had the same. But Stef soon created is very own style of playing bass (which we all love, I think ). He finished High School in Sweden, moved to London with his parents and attended the Musicians Institute. One day in London he met Brian at the South Kensington Tube Station - what a luck - and they decided to have a band called Ashtray Heart which later turned to Placebo.
